A Comprehensive History of Ammar of Jarath and the Establishment of The Order of The Gray Scriveners: Prologue

When Head Scribe Baslier entrusted me with the compilation of this corpus, I was both humbled and honored. The collection of all our knowledge on the establishment of our Order, and on Ammar of Jarath himself, now rested upon my shoulders.

In the ocean of texts of our library, I spent my days studying every manuscript I could encounter chronicling the events of that time. Some straight out of the scriptorium, freshly penned by our contemporary scribes. Some, like the travel journals of The Founder, faded with time. All overflowing with the wisdom of generations of dedicated Brothers who ensured the preservation of these learnings.

As my research progressed, the life of revered Ammar became clear like a picture, painted with colors of resilience, courage, and commitment. From the unforgiving sands of Diakayda to the halls of Estia. From cursed in Jarath to consecrated in Laan. The first of the Grays was a wanderer who found purpose in his relentless quest for enlightenment.

His legacy transcended time and shall outlive us all. The Order of the Gray Scriveners, once a modest assemblage of chronicling nomads, is now the beacon of wisdom on this continent. A testament to the transformation that a single man can produce, wielding the power of a quill and an inquisitive mind.

It is my hope that this corpus preserves the discoveries that my research, with all its shortcomings, has yielded. May it keep alive the flames of knowledge that The Founder ignited, and illuminate the path for those who follow in our footsteps.
